Heritage Road
On the anniversary of my maternal grandfather’s passing, I boarded a plane to cross the Atlantic Ocean; this journey lead me to tour my paternal grandfather’s homeland. Though the closest I had ever been to Wales was Nova Scotia, Wales is the homeland that I have heard about my entire life; a world I am tied to in name and pride. There is not a moment in my life where I did not feel a connection to Wales. One week, two flights, and a train ride, later I was standing on Welsh soil feeling a little lost. I collected these photographs during my walking tour of Conwy and Rowen, Gwynedd, Wales. On this journey, I found the family home where my Great-grandfather was born, but more significantly I found home, heritage, the roots of my identity and a draw to this land so far from my home.
